RLP Mechanical is looking for a skilled Sheetmetal Mechanic. This employee will Install HVAC ductwork and equipment on commercial projects and repair existing systems and equipment utilizing hand and power tools. This Skilled Sheetmetal Mechanic will be joining an amazing and growing team. 

Sheetmetal Mechanic Job Duties

  • Install fire dampers, smoke dampers, and fire/ smoke dampers per code and manufacturer installation guidelines.
  • Install duct including spiral, snap lock and flex
  • Install Square duct using duct mate, TDC and S and Drive.
  • Layout and install mechanical equipment to include, but not limited to, terminal unit boxes, fan coil units, exhaust fans (utility vent sets, sidewall, in-line, ceiling, centrifugal up-blast, and downflow), split system A/C units, AHU's and RTU's.
  • Layout and install roof support systems for mechanical equipment and ductwork, including equipment rails, equipment stands, duct stands, roof curbs.
  • Layout and install ductwork and equipment hangers using duct straps, threaded rods, hanging wire, Unistrut, and angle using tools such as lasers, saws, hammer drills, and powder-actuated guns, when allowed and with certification.
  • Install grilles, registers, and diffusers to include, but not limited to, lay-in grilles, surface mount grilles, linear diffusers, and laminar flow diffusers.
  • Seal ductwork per plans and specifications.
  • Must be able to read and comprehend plans and specifications.
  • Inspect, examine, and test all ductwork systems by using a duct pressure test machine, observation, or other methods and know-how to use said duct pressure test machine.
  • Accept, unload, and store material and equipment deliveries in a safe and productive manner.
  • Install manual dampers, supporting hardware, etc., make final connections to equipment
  • Fasten seams and joints with bolts, cement, rivets, caulk, clips, etc.
  • Drill and punch holes in metal for screws, bolts, rivets and install spin-in, peel and stick, or airtight duct taps, connect to branch duct
  • Able to work from ladders, manlifts and other equipment at various heights
  • Operate man lift, personal lift, chain hoist, duct jack
  • Perform other related duties or special projects, as assigned

Sheetmetal Mechanic Job Qualifications

  • 3 or more years of experience working within the HVAC / mechanical trade installing systems on commercial and / or industrial construction sites
  • Experience with tools including but not limited to shears, brakes, bending rolls, punch, drill press, snips and other hand and power tools
  • OSHA 10 preferred
  • Valid Driver License and background check required
  • Enjoys a fast paced environment and is able to meet deadlines
  • Attention to detail and punctual
