The Job to be Done
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Organize projects in the field and maintain active knowledge of project parameters
- Obtain and study the project drawings and specifications, including the scope of work as defined by our contract with the General Contractor. Maintain open communication with the General Contractor and attend project meetings.
- Maintain records and approved submittals. Notify the Project Manager if there are missing submittals.
- Maintain a daily log of Change Orders or back charges and unusual circumstances that may warrant attention. Report back charges and change orders to project managers. If the project manager agrees to change orders, then fill out a change order request and submit it to the project manager to include in monthly billings before the 20th of every month. Maintain a log of all Change Order requests, (COR).
- Assist with writing and submitting all requests for information RFIs and maintain a log of all RFIs.
- Maintain a clean and safe work site. Adhere to and enforce ColdTech’s policies and standards.
- Install HVAC systems to meet local and state codes.
- Train apprentices, and laborers.
- Supervise all ColdTech’s personnel that you are responsible for. Report tardiness and disciplinary issues to the manager. Receive approval for overtime before committing employees. Maintain daily record of timesheets for all supervised employees. Submit and sign off on all timesheets before submitting to office.
- Maintain a positive workplace; coordinate in advance with other trades, especially other ColdTech divisions. Resolve issues between other ColdTechs divisions before reporting to General contractor.
- Maintain project schedule and notify project manager of manpower needs daily for the following week.
- Review materials needed for the job well in advance. Notify Purchasing agent of all materials needed and receive purchase orders for all materials and equipment. When materials arrive on site, review packing list and report any deficiencies. Return packing lists to a purchasing agent with timesheets.
- Notify project manager of any items that will improve project productivity.
- Review and maintain project productivity. Do not waste materials. Optimize labor to reduce project costs. Review project labor costs weekly and make corrections as required.
Other Duties and Responsibilities:
- Do not divulge proprietary information to outside sources.
- Adhere to ColdTech policies and standards.
- Report to work on time.
- Maintain a safe and clean work site.
- Keep ColdTech Vehicles always clean.
- Willingness to mentor, train and work with employees.
- Comply with the standards for HVAC systems as dictated by the State in which work is being done.
- Dress in clean attire at all times.
Minimum Qualifications and Experience:
- Idaho Journeyman
- Pre-Employment Drug Screening/Background Check
- Clean Driving Record
- Travel 100% Required
- 7+ years of commercial HVAC installation
- 2+ years of HVAC foreman experience
- Ability to manage crews of 3-8 people
- Coping with demands (stressors) that are associated with the job and/or the work environment so that acceptable levels of performance and overall contribution are maintained.
- The position requires a proven ability to manage people and communicate with our clients and staff. Proven experience as an HVAC installer.
Physical Demand:
- Able to regularly lift up to 75 lbs.
- Ability to regularly climb extension ladders, rood ladders, stepladders, and stairs at least 10 times during the shift.
- Flexibility to bend/stoop, squat repetitive during shift.
- Ability to regularly kneel repetitively during shift.
- ability to move in a 90-degree fashion on a repetitive basis during shift.
- Able to stretch/reach on a repetitive basis during shift.
- Can walk extensively throughout the job site during shift.
- Able to interact with all clients professionally and respectfully despite periods of stress.
Working Conditions/Job Hazard Analysis:
- Work may take place in cramped, dirty/dusty, cold, or hot conditions. Safety must be considered in dealing with electricity, flammable fuel lines and CFC chemicals. HVAC technicians may have to fish wires or pipes through existing constructions. Respiratory precautions may also be taken because of exposure to dust, refrigeration chemicals and possibly asbestos in older buildings
