Housing Specialist

Title: Housing Specialist
Pay: $18.04 - $27.06/hr
Schedule: Monday - Friday; 10AM - 6PM
Location: Phoenix, AZ

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Support youth 18-21 in achieving their long- and short-term goals needed for successful transition out of Foster Care Services.
• Outreach and facilitate ongoing relationship building with local landlords, property owners, leasing agency, and roommate matching resources.
• Become familiar with rental publications that offers diverse rental options (shared housing, single family homes, roommate matching, etc.)
• Collaborate with team members and youth to develop a plan to best meet housing goals
• Provide guidance on housing-related issues
• Accompany youth to properties as necessary to view units and meet landlords
• Conduct negotiations with landlords for considerations, move-in specials, waivers of late charges
• Facilities on and off-site events that cultivates youth’s relationship with their permanent connections
• Provide transportation to Life Skills, Employment, Vocational, and Housing related activities appropriate to youth’s ability and program phase.
• Educate youth and landlord on subsidy and other financial resources available to youth
• Maintain accurate record keeping and compliance reports
• Assist with program development, implementation and evaluation.
• Conduct ongoing case conferencing with the youth’s team and natural supports.
• Participate in meetings, workshops and trainings as assigned and participate in activities designed to increase skill in related areas.
• Attend staff meetings, regular case review meetings, specialized training as offered
• Help youth identify community resources to support with housing supplies and other needs.
• Provide short term maintence and stabilization support post move-in.
• Participate in community housing task-forces, committees, or other housing groups
• Facilitates Safe Place Program (including rotating OnCall schedule)
• Participate in community outreach (Safe Place/THP events)
• Works closely with team members to help youth achieve program goals and ensure program meets all compliance standards.
• Models Center’s expectation for sensitivity and competency relating to diversity and cultural awareness.

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:

• Must have a Bachelor’s Degree in related field and 1 year of relevant experience (5 years of relevant experience will be considered in absence of degree).
• Experience working with the targeted population served is preferred
• Must be at least 21 years of age
• Must possess or able to obtain a Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card
• Must have valid Driver License and five-year clean driving record
• Able to display verbal and written communication skills that meet the requirements of position
• Experience with Microsoft suite software program
