Every day, home owners in the US work hard to make their homes look beautiful. Their home is their most valuable asset and last year 1 in 3 US households had interior painting done in their home. Not only this, but 3 in 4 households plan on painting in the next 12 months. This is an in-demand industry and at Craftsman Painter we provide high quality painting services to people who care about their homes. Adding the painting trade to your skills as an artist can help you make a great living, use your skilled hands, and lead to opportunities in artistic finishes.
*We are an equal opportunity employer and encourage men, women, non-binary, minorities and members of the LGBTQ+ community to apply. #BLM
Our company was founded by an artist who graduated from art school without an opportunity in the arts and without a community of fellow artists. We understand what it's like to leave school and not find an opportunity that can help you make a living. You're not alone. In fact, graduating artists have an unemployment rate of 13% which is like graduating into a recession in any economy. But we value your artistic skill and passion and we hope that you consider bringing it to painting homes and buildings. Too many artists find there isn't a path for upward mobility, there aren't benefits, retirement savings, or the ability to grow in many of the job options that are available to them. But at Craftsman Painter, we are focused on making sure that you have a job you can rely on. As a painter you will work with paint and color to beautify homes and commercial buildings using the talent you were born with.
As a member of our Craftsman Painter Community and as a skilled professional, you will know how to prep, tape, repair drywall, brush, roll, and spray all manner of interior finishes such as walls, trim, ceilings, and cabinets. If you don't know how to paint cabinets yet, that's ok. We provide training. You'll be responsible for following our standard operating procedures set forth by the Painting Contractors Association. You will be responsible for showing up to work on time, putting in a good honest days work, and reporting your productivity. You will also provide light customer service while you are in the home or office space.
For this position we prefer a journeyman or craftsman level painter with 3-5 years experience, not much more and not much less.
College or vocational training is not required but some college credits are preferred.
For the right candidate, you may apply for our apprenticeship bootcamp held at our head quarters in Bloomington, IN where you will receive full training on interior painting.
Our primary mission as a company is to make a difference in the lives of our craftsman community, our customers and in our local neighborhoods. We are a startup company based in Bloomington, IN with offices in Louisville, KY and we are expanding to 100 cities over the course of the next 10 years. To make as big of a difference as possible we are looking to find reliable painters and support them with a great career and opportunities to grow and take on leadership.
For qualified candidates, key benefits to working at Craftsman Painter include:
Depending on your full-time availability and skill level we are offering $3,200-$4,800 monthly paid every other week with lunch allowance and reimbursement for approved tool purchases.
Our craftsman crews work in pairs of 2 and sometimes a group of 3. Painters report to the Onsite Leader under the direction of a local Master Craftsman. On a daily basis you will report directly to the job site no later than 9:00 am and work until lunch. You'll get up to an hour for lunch and then you'll continue working until 5:00 pm. You'll work Monday through Friday. On work days between jobs or if the day concludes early, you'll be required to assist with canvassing. In your first year you will be considered seasonal/part-time but as demand continues and we become more reliant on your outstanding services you'll be eligible for full-time and may work full-time hours right out of the gate.
We hope you've found this information helpful and inspiring. We are highly selective for the role of the painter because here we hold our Craftsman Community in such high esteem. If this sounds like the work environment for you, please consider applying and we will be eager and happy to speak to you.
