Network Administrator

The network administrator is a key team member of our managed services and professional services teams.  The network administrator on-boards new clients, applies our best practices, performs special projects, and assists with disaster recovery efforts.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Provide on-site technical as needed.
• Document all activities in our ticketing system.
• Create and/or update standard operating procedures.
• Set up, configure, upgrade, and troubleshoot servers, firewalls, networks, network switches, wireless controllers, access points according to Alcala Consulting’s best practices.
• Perform server migrations with no downtime for end users during production hours, i.e. on cut-over day, end users log in to their workstations without being aware that you swapped servers on the back end.
• Perform mailbox migrations to Microsoft Office 365 or Google G-Suite with no downtime to end users during production hours.
• Perform server migrations to Microsoft Azure or Amazon AWS with no downtime to end users during production hours.
• On-board new clients to bring their network up to Alcala Consulting’s standards.
• Assist in disaster recovery efforts.
• Participate in Microsoft Teams or Zoom video calls with our team and our clients.

• Excellent interpersonal and clear communication skills (in person and over the phone) are required to: effectively and concisely gather information; disseminate it to help resolve systems issues or problems; be able to discuss both technical and non-technical matters, especially to those without a technical background.

Technical Qualifications

• 6+ years of experience as a network administrator.
• A strong grasp of Windows Server 2016, and 2019.
• A strong grasp of Windows 10.
• A strong grasp of VMWare ESXi 6.7, and 7
• A strong grasp of Microsoft Active Directory, Group Policies, and Terminal Servers.
• A strong understanding of Linux CentOS.
• A strong understanding of DNS, subnetting, VLANs
• A strong understanding of Microsoft Office 365 and Azure AD.
• A strong SonicWall HA setup.
   
   

Other Requirements

• Ability to pass a background and driver license screen.
• US Citizenship.
• A reliable car with insurance.
• A valid Texas class C driver’s license.

Compensation
 

Open dependent on candidate’s experience and qualifications relevant to this position.
